The Williamsburg Heritage Dancers sponsor an English Country Dance workshop, usually in late January, but occasionally also at other times. We select noted dance teachers from other areas (sometimes even from across the Atlantic). In 2008, we offered a workshop led by George Fogg of Boston, and in 2009 the workshop was led by Gary Roodman of Leeds, Massachusetts.
The next Heritage Dancers' Workshop will be held on January 16, 2010, at the Stonehouse Presbyterian Church. (Directions) The workshop will be conducted by Lou Vosteen and feature both old and new dances. Attendees should have a good working knowledge of English Country Dance figures. The workshop will emphasize the flow and connectivity of dance figures and making effective use of all the music. Lou will include dances from his "Fat Albert" series Lots of "Hey! Hey! Hey!" The afternoon session will be held from 1:30 - 4:30 and the evening session from 7:30 to 10:30. Preregistration is not required. The fee is $10 for one session or $15 for both. Please note that the church has a HARD floor so bring appropriate footwear.
