The Williamsburg Heritage Dancers sponsor a costumed performance group that can be hired to demonstrate historical English Country Dances. Typical performances may include dances from all periods from the sixteenth century through the American Revolution, but for special occasions programs can be developed to reflect the dances of 1607 (the founding of Jamestown, Virginia), or of 1699 (the founding of Williamsburg), or of 1781 (the Battle of Yorktown, Virginia). With sufficient advance notice, these dancers have been hired to dance as far afield as Blue Ridge, Georgia; Washington, DC; the Cumberland Gap; and Stratford Hall Plantation. Generally, however, performances are at conference centers in Williamsburg or up to one hour’s drive from Williamsburg.
